Omar Alcaraz was born in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico. When he was about 5
years of age, his parents decided to move to the beautiful port of Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico. Soon after arriving in Mazatlan,
his parents Dario & Silvia Alcaraz gave their life to the Lord and were baptized in the name of "Jesus Christ"
at the "Primera Iglesia Apostolica de la Fe en Cristo Jesus". It was at that church where Omar began his ministry
as a child singing traditional hymn songs Sunday after Sunday. Later, when he was about the age of 9, his father decided it
was best for the family to move to the United States. It was in the city of Stockton, California where Omar began to develop
more of his musical abilities and ministry. All through his school years, he began to show impressive skills on Flute, Saxophone,
Piano, Trombone, and other instruments.
As a result of his musical abilities, he received the following awards:
"The Louis Armstrong
Jazz Award"-"Best
Jazz Solo Award" at the Campana Jazz Festival Competition, - "Steve Childress Scholarship Award"
- "Drum Major Award" at the California State University of Sacramento, "Mecha
Latino Award" - "Marine Corps Recognition Award" - "Superior Rating Classical Flute Soloist Award"
University of the Pacific of Stockton, Ca., "Music Director's Award", and many
others. He began teaching private lessons to adults and young kids at the age of 14. Omar spent a great amount of time as
a young person composing small songs. He defenetly had a passion for music. He understood that God was speaking to him through
the gift He had given him. Though his family faced many challenges in life, God fulfilled his will in his life. God allowed
Omar to grow in the areas of music. Presently, God has expanded his ministry into the area of music producing, recording and
sound.
In addition
to his technical training and experience through the years, he has learned one key point; it is possible to touch the lives
of many around the world by reaching out to them with the universal language of music. Omar A. has always beleived in being
a true servant, not only of God, but also of the people of God, and feels that his musical success is determined by seeing
the success and accomplishments of those individuals he serves and trains.
Omar is the director and founder of Jubilo
Music Productions recording studios in Stockton & San Diego, California where he now teaches around 50 students in private
sessions. Attended California State University in Sacramento where he studied Saxophone with Dr. Jack Foote and graduated
as a recording engineer from a Recording Institute in Reno, NV.
